Manukau Retail Therapy

Shopping is an important part of your holiday.  Explore Manukau’s wide range of shops and boutiques and take something home with you which brings back memories for years to come.

Manukau is a great place to shop.  For serious retail therapy it has to be Botany Town Centre - voted best shopping centre in the Southern Hemisphere, with over 150 speciality stores, including Auckland's largest Farmers store and New Zealand's largest movie screen at Berkeley Cinema, as well as cafes, bars and restaurants.  Botany Town Centre will need at least a day of your time to do it justice and not feel rushed.

If you prefer to shop 'as you go' then Howick is a good choice.  Its lively main street serves the bustling Howick community.  Most of its shops are still independent owner-operated.  Your shopping can be combined with many other activities in and around Howick.

The same is true of Clevedon, or the tiny village of Whitford.  Special villages with just a few shops, but where you will experience the true warmth and hospitality of the village environment, a genuine desire to make your holiday memorable and local knowledge to help you on your way.

But for vibrancy and urban authenticity, head for the Saturday morning markets in either Otara or Mangere. Selling every possible type of fruit or vegetable, these markets cater for Manukau's many ethnic communities. The Otara Market is an Auckland institution popular with tourists and locals alike, whilst the Mangere market particularly comes alive with multicultural entertainment.
